The federal rule
The Australian Communications and Media Authority explains that illegal online gambling services include online casinos and online slots, commonly called pokies. Under the Interactive Gambling Act framework, providers must not offer prohibited interactive gambling services to customers physically present in Australia. The rules concern the service and the Australian customer link, not the colour of the website, its currency list or where its foreign licence was issued.
The Bets.io name in ACMA records
ACMA’s investigations table includes “Bets.io” in a group of services found to have provided prohibited interactive gambling services with an Australian customer link. The same row explains that these services typically offered casino-style games and that some domains were blocked after continued contravention.
Our subject is commonly styled Betsio or Betsio.com in current review sources. “Bets.io” and “Betsio.com” are not automatically the same service, domain or legal entity. We do not merge them from typography alone. The correct process is to match hostname, company, terms and licence exactly. The ACMA entry is a serious verification signal, not a licence to make an unsupported identity accusation.
Affiliate advertising risk
The same ACMA table describes enforcement involving affiliate services that promoted prohibited gambling services and provided direct hyperlinks in return for commission. Commercial links are disclosed and use a same-origin redirect. The legacy `/go/` route remains a transparent noindex page.
What a foreign licence means
A foreign licence may establish regulation in its issuing jurisdiction. It does not replace Australian rules. Likewise, AUD support, an Australian phone code, geo-targeted advertising or successful site access cannot prove lawful supply in Australia.
